独学で落語のけいこを始めた喜代美（貫地谷しほり）だが、連日の無理がたたって風邪をひいてしまう。喜代美は熱でもうろうとした意識のまま、亡き正太郎（米倉斉加年）との思い出の落語のテープを聴きつづけるが、ついに倒れてしまう。そこに突然、福井から正典（松重豊）が現れる。寝込んだ喜代美の看病をしつつ、正典は草若（渡瀬恒彦）に思いがけないことを頼む。
