张恒召集陈汉生、冯东野和姚华康开会，决定对共产党动手了。孙启忠受姚华康威胁诱骗萧寒，被萧寒识破。冯东野对眼前形势有些苦闷，更对李满彪借抓共产党之名，排除异己大为不满。陈汉生告诫冯东野别管萧寒死活，不要意气用事，同时让他好好表现，否则林雨竹会有危险。政工队内也一片紧张，姚华康出动警察包围政工队，他们连济世医院也不放过，杨秋草被打死。冯东野躲在政工队对面阁楼上观察情况，准备适时而动。警察埋伏在各个角落里，窗口上架着枪，姚华康命令只要萧寒出现，无需请示，立即开枪。布置好这一切，姚华康胸有成竹等着萧寒，不知等来的，却是他太太开着自己的座驾前来传话，姚华康只得依照萧寒的话，将付大虎、胡子明等人救出政工队。
