小海的父母找不到他，猜到他已经回到了村子，非常伤心。而自愿作贡品的小海还在祭坛上等待年魔到来。为了劝说小海离开，灶王爷在空中显身，却被小海当他是年魔，用弹弓打。灶王爷随后向小海介绍了自己，再度劝他快离开，小海不肯走。大眼和长嘴两个小偷又潜入村子作案，欢歌笑语不亦乐乎。而正这时候，年魔降临了。小海毫不畏惧年魔，反而对年魔的外貌进行一番惹人恼怒的挖苦，将年魔惹怒了。年魔大发雷霆，将村庄毁坏。小海眼睁睁看着爸爸妈妈被狂风吹走，自己却无能为力。灶王爷用一只仙锅救下小海，告诉小海他就是紫魁星转世的事，并告诉他打败年魔的方法。随后灶王爷送给小海一个法宝，嘱托多来米帮助小海寻找其它圣兽，自己拖住年魔，让他们趁机逃走。
