大眼和长嘴两只黄鼠狼是一对小偷搭档。他们偷偷进入小海家偷东西，却被早有提防的小海捉弄得够呛。小海一路折磨两个笨小偷一直到港口，却不小心失误闯了大祸，将村子里的船都烧毁了。正当小海的父母为孩子的错向村里人道歉时，村长却主动登门送上来一只盒子，让小海父母悲痛万分。原来收到盒子，说明小海已被选作送给年魔的贡品。小海父母在灵堂中求先人保佑，看到不小心被多来米碰倒的灵牌还以为祖先显灵，决定带小海逃难。逃难路上，小海一家看到另一个村子因为没有贡品而被年魔摧毁。小海听到父母的谈话，知道因为自己可能会让整个村子遭殃，于是，他决定返回村里……而灶王爷那边，看到多来米屁股上的印记，才领悟了书上记载的十二圣兽“以星为印”的含义。紫魁星要成为真身，就必须要找到十二圣兽，而多来米，正是十二圣兽之一。
