清晨，闪电起床洗漱时试用了流星研制的智能牙刷，但使用效果很不好。正当流星向闪电推荐自己的其它新发明时，基地响起了警报，和卢克一起进行沙漠寻宝的灰灰博士失踪了。闪电、流星与卢克一起出发寻找博士，几人途中偶遇海市蜃楼。这时，从另一边跑来的博士误以为海市蜃楼是真的绿洲，不小心身陷流沙。闪电、流星立即展开救援，但流沙的流动性为救援带来了阻碍。流星在救援中观察发现卢克脚掌宽厚不易陷入流沙，并利用这一特性制造了救援工具，最终成功解救灰灰博士。流星也明白了发明创造应该因地制宜，适合使用的发明才是最好的。
