北极鸭郝博士一行人驾驶的北极科考船意外撞上了冰山，可是维修科考船的工具和补给品全部都在8号北极科考基地。于是，护卫队的彩虹和闪电迅速赶往事故现场救援。但是从事故地点步行前往8号基地需要走几个小时的路程，所以彩虹拜托闪电去附近找雪地车，彩虹则带着郝博士一行人先行向8号基地出发。由于路途中郝博士说话总是拖拖拉拉说不到重点，导致一路上各种遭遇危险。途中彩虹收到了闪电获得雪地车的通信，可没等确认位置信号就中断了。为了重新取得联系，彩虹跟随郝博士的引导找到了一所信号塔，可是极地暴风雪越来越强，急速下降的温度让大家的防寒装备都要支撑不住了。关键时刻，郝博士在彩虹的鼓励下改掉了说话绕弯子的缺点，迅速爬至信号塔顶联系到了闪电，大家也因此获救。
