梅被道士镇压在七重塔内，哭求道士手下留情，皆因自己生前被旭杀害，才化成厉鬼前来报仇，希望道士助自己沉冤，还一个公道。道士甚同情之，遂将藏梅鬼魂的七重塔收在铜鼎山内。没想到，江山易改本性难移。旭是一位真正的机会主义者。机会又来了，公主远嫁不久，丧夫而回。公主召旭作画解闷，日久生情，公主表示愿意下嫁旭，惜旭已有妻室，自己堂堂公主怎么可以做人妾侍。若能娶得公主，攀升为驸马，晋身皇室，那么人生、仕途将会更上一层楼，荣华富贵享之不尽，旭开始厌弃慧，思前想后，旭设计杀害慧，步步逼进，幸慧逃脱。慧逃至铜鼎山一山洞内，躲藏起来，旭在洞外堆上柴草，点火烧洞，更以大石封洞，欲活活烧死慧。慧在无路可逃之下，发现放置在洞内的七重塔，塔内传出梅的声音，于是慧打开塔盖，放出梅，梅终杀旭。
