八戒如愿来到了灵霄宝殿，恰逢玉帝在天宫里举办第一届大笑节。贪吃的八戒在御膳房大吃一顿，还被当作烤全羊抬到了玉帝面前，他的滑稽样子和表演惹得玉帝和众仙笑得东倒西歪，玉帝还以为他是来参加大笑节的。酒醒的八戒向玉帝伸冤，可是玉帝根本就不相信他的话，还赏赐了他许多美酒，此时的八戒只好继续与美酒做伴啰！
