八戒穷追不舍，终于让福迪证实了自己正是天篷。嫦娥想要相认，却又无法接受八戒变成猪身的事实，两人正纠缠间，玉帝已派人来拿再次捣乱的八戒，仓促间，嫦娥劝八戒先回凡间，自己再去寻找能使八戒变回原样的仙药。 嫦娥为使八戒恢复原貌，去南海求助观世音菩萨，菩萨指点说只有昆仑山西王母（王母娘娘的孪生妹妹）处有变形药可以有此功效。嫦娥为救八戒心切，决定去昆仑山寻访仙药，但观音要她必须女扮男装，且不得去八戒相认。 于此同时，八戒也为自己的容貌懊恼不已，在咨询土地后也获得了西王母处有变形药的消息，于是决定前去寻访。嫉妒的福迪不想让八戒恢复容貌与嫦娥团聚，决定尾随八戒，从中作梗。 八戒千辛万苦到了昆仑山后，却发现西王母府前有狮虎兽把门，福迪故意弄醒狮虎兽，害得八戒几乎搭上了性命。
