徐家众人闹得不可开交，警察来了要带走福贵，关键时刻陈掌柜让家珍自己作出决定，家珍表示愿意嫁给福贵。福贵和家珍过了一段幸福的日子，生下一个女儿叫凤霞，凤霞4岁那年，家珍又怀上了孩子。龙二把沈先生的赌场夺到自己的手里，又和潘少爷策划要把徐家的产业弄到手，引诱福贵光顾赌场。赌场上龙二不时给潘少爷使着眼色，潘少爷又连输了几局。福贵越发地得意起来，直到潘少爷说自己带来的钱不多，都输光了，两人这才站了起来。潘少爷一把拽住福贵说，明天我带够了钱再来赌。福贵和潘少爷赌得天昏地暗，龙二不断在中间添油加醋、煽风点火。福贵赌得没钱了就让“春风院”的胖妓女背着他到陈掌柜米行给岳父大人请安、要钱，陈掌柜气得浑身哆嗦。
