张思德等人用信号弹驱散藏民，进入民居留下只多不少的大洋换粮。藏民这才明白误会了红军，赠予粮食和羊。丁香为张思德制鞋，被黑老潘误抢。张行发被留在老乡家养伤，与众人告别。1935年8月，红军分左右两路北上，挺进松潘大草原。路遇毁桥，左路军前锋团团长廖文山令牛娃子在大部队到达之前修好桥。牛娃子率队守桥，张思德等人协助。然而和平沟通失败，山娃子额头被藏民的子弹擦伤。此时右路军来电强调民族团结，做好通过藏区的准备。懂藏语的李金嗓单枪匹马携和平信赴土司寨。寨子里，李金嗓救下一名藏兵并获土司款待。但土司之子甲央指控红军伤人，李金嗓遭甲央拷打时唱起《八月桂花遍地开》。廖文山既要保桥又要营救人质，心焦不已。
