受母亲之命，老虎不情愿地带着花轿迎接三娘回王家；文宾、枝山陪伴左右，更向老虎说出皇上最近与三娘过从甚密。当经过酒楼时，三人竟亲眼看见皇上向三娘赠予名贵的珍珠耳环，之后老虎更看到自己赠给三娘的耳环被抛出街外，于是大表不悦。竟当众指骂皇上与三娘，结果两人又在街上大打出手。 枝山与文宾发现王家有官轿到临，原来桂菲所资助的学子，有人高中探花前来提亲；枝山心有不忿大肆奚落对方。但想不到此时竟接连有榜眼甚至状元出现向桂菲提亲，令她心花怒放，更欲答应当上状元夫人。当众人正劝服桂菲考虑与枝山复合时，枝山竟出现，更说自己将与豆腐西施成亲，结果与桂菲当场吵翻。三人看见皇榜说皇上将迎娶三娘，老虎不禁大受打击。老虎看见母亲在购买丝绸，但并蒂对儿子却视若无睹，更特意说这是选择送给三娘的贺礼。 三娘的大喜日子当天，老虎竟只懂埋首工作，令他的下属亦不禁可怜他。老虎失足碰碎大缸，令他忆起儿时往事。为了与三娘结缘，老虎竟要求下属助他一起抢新娘，但这天却是大喜吉日，满街花轿。
