上游与众夥计夹计赶客及作弄花枝，欲让她知难而退。老夥计品叔向花枝提议请马友当大厨，可保百里鲜。花枝打听出马友厨艺高但脾气臭，现在在街边摆档卖鱼肉汤。花枝吃过鱼肉汤后赞口不绝，上前邀请他当百里鲜大厨，马友要她讲出其炮制鱼肉的窍门才作考虑。花枝的好友唐文薏提议找翡翠轩行政总厨龙赐新帮忙。赐新炮制新菜式「龙皇夜宴」及「鲤跃龙门」给老板周诚渊及食客凌唯伦等试食，众赞口不绝，唯伦还说不知谁可与赐新一较高下，赐新即忆起被师傅称赞有创意的师兄马友，心下一沉。文薏钟情赐新，但他钟情女侍应苏眉，可惜苏眉对他若即若离。花枝得赐新提点后知道马友的鱼肉之窍门，欢天喜地去找他，但马友仍拒绝帮忙，花枝气结。花枝无奈再请教赐新请大厨的要诀，可惜仍不得要领，沮丧不已。品叔见状指马友跟耀柱甚有渊源，只有他能令百里鲜起死回生，花枝于是再找马友，马友惊闻耀柱已死但仍坚拒帮忙，还叫花枝卖铺了事。
