訓練兵団に入団して3年。キース教官のもと厳しい訓練を経たエレン、ミカサ、アルミンたちに、いよいよ卒団の時期が迫っていた。そん ななか、エレンは「立体機動術」などの巨人殺しの技術を磨くことが、同時に巨人からいち早く安全圏に逃れる技術に繋がっている矛盾に気づく。訓練兵団での成績上位者は内地にて王の元で民を統制し、秩序を守る憲兵団に入れるのだが……。
