四方を50ｍを超える壁に囲まれた街・シガンシナ地区。人々は壁の外の巨人から自分たちを守るため、この巨大な壁を作りあげたのだった。外の世界に憧れる 少年・エレンと、彼のよき相談相手であるミカサは、壁の中で平和な時を過ごしていた。そんなある日、壁の外を探索に行った調査兵団が、この町に帰還するの を知る。調査兵団を“英雄”と呼ぶエレンが見たのは……。
