穆耳以商讨派谁出战平定叛乱，逼令忽哥赤承认众老将已不能再上战场，藉此让年轻之辈上位，不料忽哥赤竟自荐出征。丽君未能联络穆耳，勇娥提议张贴告示，悬红寻找士元。穆耳听从伯颜建议，趁忽哥赤出征时，将一众老将罢黜，察必知道此事会影响叔侄间感情。阔真堕马后，晚上发恶梦恐穆耳舍自己而去，穆耳安慰之。 穆耳欲金屋藏娇，邀请丽君到别院相聚又吹笛给她听，丽君却被笛声牵引，想起与少华的往事。穆耳着丽君入住别院，丽君未及开口再托他打探士元下落时，穆耳便急于回宫接见凯旋而归的忽哥赤。忽哥赤质问穆耳逼走老将的原因，穆耳不亢不卑地指已让老将们衣锦还乡，忽哥赤无言以对，抛下一句「好自为之」便拂袖而去。 在重赏悬红下，匪徒讹称有士元下落，骗少华及丽君至后巷行劫，少华为救丽君被堕下来的屋檐击伤头颅而昏倒，丽君见他不省人事，急得哭了出来，更向少华承认是其未婚妻。穆耳对阔真与丽君皆有意，竟期望两者兼得。丽君辗转反侧未能入睡，唤醒荣兰倾诉心事，荣兰得知她已决定告诉少华自己的真正身分，着她她快点行动。
