ノースカロライナ州シャーロット・ダグラス国際空港への最終アプローチ中、コックピットからの視界もままならないほどの集中豪雨に見舞われたUSエアー1016便。パイロットは着陸を中止し、再び上昇する「ゴーアラウンド」を実行するが、急降下して墜落。乗客乗員52名のうち37名が死亡する惨事となる。奇跡的に生き残ったパイロットたちは、悪天候が墜落の原因だと主張するが、調査員はそれだけではないことを突き止める。
