国税調査官・富樫（奥田達士）が何者かに殺害された。志保（羽田美智子）と村瀬（津田寛治）の調べで、富樫が不正経理などの疑いで調査していた会社社長・猪狩（尾関伸嗣）が浮上するが、一方で青柳（吹越満）と矢沢（田口浩正）は富樫が事件当日、理緒（メイサツキ）という歌手と会っていたことをつかむ。 その理緒は、直樹（井ノ原快彦）の調べで、かつて富樫の妻・弥生（中山忍）とデュオを組んでいたことがわかった。デュオを解散・引退後、富樫と結婚した弥生は、現在では専業主婦となっていたが、理緒と三角関係にでもなっていたのか？ そんな中、倫太郎（渡瀬恒彦）は、富樫の所持品にあったセーム革に興味を抱き…。 富樫にかつて歌手だったことを隠していた弥生だったが、最近になって理緒から再結成をもちかけられ困っていたという。富樫が理緒に会いに行ったのも、再結成を断るためだったのか？
