倫子（中越典子）のケーキ店に来ていた女性客が何者かに連れ去られた。連絡を受けた直樹（井ノ原快彦）だが、現場をはっきりと見たわけではない倫子の話に半信半疑。「何とかクリーニングと書かれた不審なワゴン車がうろついていた」と言うのだが…。 領収書の宛名から女性客が最高裁裁判官・猪瀬の娘・仁美であることがわかった。猪瀬といえば、2日後に母子を惨殺、反省のかけらもない凶悪犯・石垣の判決を控えている。いまや話題の人でもある猪瀬の娘が誘拐されたのだろうか。 直樹から相談を受けた倫太郎（渡瀬恒彦）は直樹を連れて猪瀬の将棋仲間・武富（不破万作）を訪ねる。馴れ馴れしい武富に引っ張られるように猪瀬の自宅に上がりこんだ倫太郎と直樹。誘拐の話を切り出すと、最初は否定したものの、そこへ犯人から電話が。猪瀬は仕方なくすべてを倫太郎らに告白する。
