義母の美乃（加賀まりこ）を殺して、と料亭の娘が音羽屋を尋ねてきた。調べに行った千蔵（津坂匡章）は美乃のあやしい魅惑のとりことなった上、生命も狙われる。美乃は板前の新八（天田俊明）と情を通じ、夫や娘を殺してお家乗っ取りを企んでいた。仕掛人の梅安（緒形拳）は三年前、料亭の先妻を殺したが、実はこれも美乃の悪計だったのだ。だまされていた、と怒りにふるえる梅安は美乃に会った。意外にも美乃は二十年前、梅安と妹を捨てて消えた母親と生き写しだった。梅安はそれ以来妹とも生き別れであったのだが-。
