風光明媚の地、旭川神居古潭出身の増茂孝枝さん（２８）と中山智香子さん（２８）は保育園も一緒の幼なじみ。小学３年から始めたバトミントンでペアを組んできました。国内外の大会で優勝を重ね、目標だったシドニー五輪出場をほぼ手中しますが、増茂の突然のケガで逃してしまいます。増茂は懸命なリハビリをしましたが復帰できず、マネージャーの道を選びます。立場を変えコートの中と外に別れても２人の目標は同じ。傷害を乗り越え、２０年近く支えあった２人はその強い絆で五輪出場の夢を叶えました。
