在狮子王战见面会上桐山见到了自己的养父，养父和他谈起了姐姐的事情，不好回应的桐山在庭院内闲逛，而宗谷悄无声息的站在了他的身边。桐山不由得倒吸了一口冷气，因为他完全没有感受到宗谷的气息，每次相遇都像是时间停滞一般，接二连三颠覆将棋界历史的宗谷一直保持王的地位，而他的形象从未改变过，虽然有人把他比作神，但如果是恶魔可能也长着这样的一张脸。
