银行职员大谷雅美在居住的公寓过世了。邻居们在案发当晚听到了大谷雅美的叫喊的声音，但大谷的房间内没有他杀的物证，所以被断定为自杀案件。但在这之后，调查到大谷生前是与人在电话了有争执，查明了与大谷当时通话的人就是大谷的指甲美容师茂手木恭子。在往下调查所知，在茂手经营着指甲店的6年间，先前已有2名女性顾客过世了，周围的人都说死者把钱给了茂手融资指甲店过后便自杀了。因此，联合大谷在内已有3名茂手指甲店的顾客过世，搜查一课推理这是教唆杀人的可能性较高。真壁有希子所在的紧急取调室立刻展开该事件的调查。但茂手要求有希子审问不然就拒绝调查。在审问结束后，和有希子一起调查的刑警菱本进觉得有希子有点不对劲，于是偷偷跟在有希子后面，发现有希子居然独自一人偷偷前往茂手的指甲店。
