一件原本被运来市立博物馆鉴定的古董被调了包，眼看公开展览的日期临近，警察局的刑警们忙的焦头烂额，在众人都不知道如何是好的时候美和子又站了出来，想出了一个制作许多赝品流入古董黑市，让调了包的罪犯无法卖出只能回到博物馆里找研究员本间鉴定，计划果真奏效，西岛和猿渡将前来挟持本间的户冢抓了个正着，虽然在户冢家中搜出了文物，可随后赶来的本间却说那是赝品，而卖这个“赝品”给户冢的轮岛也被人杀害了，案件又陷入了僵局，最后随着案件的深入，事情的真相原来出人意料，户冢收买文物只是为了掩饰他贩卖毒品的罪行，而他所拥有的那件文物不是赝品而是实实在在的真货，称其为赝品原来是鉴定它的本间别有用心。
