去白骨洞带上天音王子来到宝相国。白骨精不小心暴露了身份，国王誓死守护唐僧，悟空赶到，认出白翩翩，才知这一切均是他误杀了白翩翩所致，白骨精乃是白翩翩魂魄附体在天音王子前世的尸骨而成。她也并非囚禁天音王子，一切皆是前世的一场孽缘。真相大白之后，白骨精悔过自新，焚身而亡，天音王子恢复健康之身。师徒四人重新聚合，踏上西去之路。 师徒一行经过一座山，名为平顶山，山中有一洞，唤为莲花洞，洞中两魔头，分别是金角大王，银角大王。悟空前去探路，从樵夫口中得知，此山两妖早放话出来，要等西天取经的和尚，活捉唐僧，吃了唐僧肉。悟空心中有数，故作无奈状，惹得八戒要分了行李，各奔东西，悟空捉弄八戒，明知他偷懒，却偏让他前往探路，果不其然，八戒嘟嘟囔囔，自行在山腰睡起觉来，悟空变只大鸟，啄起八戒来。
