吟儿初来乍到，对宫中事务完全不了解，而惹来照顾她们的姑姑的怨怒。今日与另一名宫女玩踢毽儿，不料时值吟儿的天葵，而污染了佛堂，更惹得姑姑的不满。事后老佛爷-慈禧太后误以为有人内应欲以飞镖行刺而大发雷霆。荣庆藉由职务之便询问宫中情形，却因身处键锐营队而不便走动查问吟儿。同袍在酒兴之余常拿宫女来开玩笑，也引得荣庆大怒。
