树林中时有黑色物体闪过，祥林嫂以为苦儿未死，但念奴十分怀疑，金锭、元宝献计，捕捉黑色物体。 一日，念奴居招待外国游客，命祥林嫂预备酒菜，祥林嫂在厨房发现泥人脚印，及后泥人野孩子被元宝所设之陷阱所困，倒吊在树上，及后方知野孩子原来是女儿身。 另一方面，念奴又发觉日间样貎威严的毕专员，夜间则变成喜欢让人使唤的怪人，令念奴摸不出头脑。 莲叶、莲蓬替野孩子梳洗一番，穿上朴素的女服，念奴赫然惊为天人，尤其野孩子一双大眼睛烱烱生光，令人神往；但念奴追问野孩子的身世时，野孩子毫无反应，后更放声大哭，各人猜想野孩子身世可怜，而淑人则怀疑野孩子乃其故乡蟾蜍之妹，却找不出证据。 大小不良在相思及灵犀面前讲述旧事，故意编造英雄事迹，令众婢女十分倾慕，元宝及金锭不值大小不良被崇拜，常设计捉弄二人。
