1947年，228事件爆发，全台各地人民皆起来反抗政府，各地都传出官兵杀人的消息，人心惶惶。人民向滥杀无辜百姓的政府提出严正的抗议：「杀人赔命，交出凶手」。李镇坤变成家乡讨论时局的核心，律师楼里也聚集众多仕绅，大家听著政府出尔反尔的政令广播。年轻的热血是无法避免参与的，尤其是明强这样有思想的人，他已完全无法再置身事外了，便与月儒两人搭著南下的便车回到了故乡，期盼能为故乡做些什麼。
