1349년 6월 28일 주명서는 클레인 모레티로 타임슬립하여 몸의 주인이 기묘하게 자살한 사실을 알게 된다. 지구로 돌아가기 위해 주술 의식을 시도하다가 생각지도 못하게 회색 안개 공간으로 이동하고 처음으로 타로 클럽을 만들어 자신은 바보로, 오드리는 정의, 아르제는 매달린 자로 호칭을 정한다. 한편 나이트호크 대장 던은 안티그누스 가문의 노트의 행방을 쫓던 중 클레인을 용의자로 의심하지만, 클레인은 달리의 심령 테스트를 통과한다. 던은 클레인에게 안전을 위해 나이트호크에 들어올 것을 권유한다. 이로써 클레인은 처음으로 신비의 세계와 접촉하게 된다.
