窮地のフシを救ったのは、かつての仲間・ジャナンダのトナリだった。トナリはフシに自分の素性を明かそうとはせず、ただ「これまで出会ってきた人の顔を見せてほしい」と願う。フシが変身できるのは、この世を去った人の姿だけ。誰かに変身するたびに死を悟り悲しむフシを、トナリは静かに見守るのだった。一方、ノッカーとともに森に逃げ込んだヒサメは……。
