もも子がアパートの前を掃除をしていると、やつれた家政婦姿の女性が通りかかりもも子の前で倒れ込んでしまう。あわてたもも子が部屋の中へ運び事情を聞くと、彼女・綾辻絹は両親が借金を残して夜逃げし、お屋敷に住み込みで家政婦をしていたがいじめられて追い出され路頭に迷っていたという。その不幸話に同情した一同は、このアパートに住んではどうかと提案し、絹は屋根裏に身を置くことに。次の日から、家事、日曜大工などなんでもこなし、絹は周囲を驚かせるが、もも子とふたりきりの瞬間に突然もも子に襲いかかった！
