深山 (松本潤) は 佐田 (香川照之) から指示を受け、彩乃 (榮倉奈々) らとともに山城鉄道の会長の自宅を訪ねる。するとそこには殺害された会長の遺体と、それを取り囲む家族らが。状況を聞くと、三男の嫁である 皐月 (国仲涼子) が犯行を自供。脳梗塞を患った義父を懸命に介護したが、満足してもらえないまま罵倒される日々が重なり、耐えられなくなっての犯行だという。さらに事件当時、自宅で一緒に暮らしていた家族たちも全員、皐月の犯行を認める供述をし、すぐに解決するかに見えた事件であった。しかし深山はある違和感を嗅ぎ取る。 皆の証言を深く掘り下げてゆくと、それはまるで “無理につじつまを合わせたかのように一致” しており…。
