帰宅した零を待ち受けていたのは、棋士・二海堂晴信。幼い頃から零をライバルと呼ぶ二海堂は、零との対局を心待ちにしていたのだった。後日、先輩棋士・松本一砂との対局終了後、零は一砂や棋士仲間の三角龍雪らとスナックへと向かう。そこでは川本家の長女・あかりが働いており、あたたかく彼らを迎えるのだった。
