星十字騎士団が姿を消した瀞霊廷の各所では、懸命に負傷者の救護が行われていた。四番隊の隊舎で治療を受けていた恋次やルキアを見舞う一護は、折られた天鎖斬月の件で涅マユリに呼び出され、卍解の破壊について説明を受ける。話を聞いて動揺した一護を連れ、マユリはある場所へと足を運んだ。護廷十三隊隊長たちが揃って待っていたのは、上空の霊王宮からやってくる「零番隊」だった。
