Laura Aird returns to Scotland after a stay with her biological father Conrad Tucker in the USA and celebrates a reunion with her boyfriend Hamish Balmerino. But the joy is marred by the death of her grandmother Violet. No one suspects that the opening of the will will cause great turbulence. The old lady left her shares in the company Edmund founded to a certain Olivia Thorpe, whom no one knows.
