Hij houdt erg van de dieren die hij behandelt, maar heeft meestal een hekel aan de eigenaren. Ondanks zijn onorthodoxe stijl is George een goede dierenarts, waardoor hij een behoorlijke lijst aan beroemde dierenpatiënten heeft opgebouwd. Bij het dierenziekehuis waar George werkt, loopt echter niet altijd alles op rolletjes. Door een lastige samenloop van omstandigheden wordt George's ex-vriendin zijn baas en zij wil een aantal grote veranderingen doorvoeren. Gelukkig wordt George bijgestaan door het aapje Dr. Rizzo.
