툭담 : 삶과 죽음의 경계에서
보편적으로 죽음이란 의학적으로 충분히 설명이 가능하다고 여겨지지만 티베트의 불교도들은 ‘툭담’이라고 불리는 한 단 계 더 높은 차원이 있다고 믿는다. 경지에 오른 고승들이 그들의 의식을 통제한 채 죽음을 맞이하면, 그들의 몸은 숨이 멎은 후에도 몇 주 동안이나 마치 살아있는 것처럼 보인다. 감독은 삶과 죽음을 연결하는 이 불가사의한 ‘툭담’ 현상에 대해 과학적 관점과 정신적 관점을 결합하여 설명한다.
