若さと希望に満ちた朝日野町の商店街にあるシャレたお好み焼屋「まんぼう」。 看板娘の八重子(通称やっこ)は江戸っ子気質の父親と2人暮らしで昼は店を手伝い夜は高校へ通う孝行娘。 その隣町のアパートには、メッシュ髪をした大学生の剛と青いパーマ頭をした5才の橋蔵兄弟と、フテブテしく太った猫のジュリアーノが住んでいた。 或る日、橋蔵とジュリアーノは、剛から行っては行けないと注意されていた朝日野町へ出掛けてしまい、迷子になって挙げ句雨にまで降られてしまった。 橋蔵とジュリアーノを中心に、八重子と剛の乙女チックなラブロマンスが、明るい笑いの中で描かれている。
