「セイ・エニシング」「ザ・エージェント」のキャメロン・クロウ監督が自身の体験を基に、ブレイク寸前のロックバンドのツアーの同行取材を任された15歳の少年の姿を描いた青春音楽ムービー。15歳の少年ウィリアムは伝説的なロック・ライターに自分の記事が気に入られ、ローリングストーン誌の仕事をもらう。さっそく取材で楽屋を訪れた彼は、グルーピーの中にいたペニー・レインに一目惚れする。
