「キッチン、大好きです。」
幼い頃に両親を亡くし、祖母と2人暮らしをしていた少女・みかげ。その祖母も他界してしまい、ついには天涯孤独の身となってしまう。台所が好きな彼女は、いつしか孤独を紛らわすかのように冷蔵庫の脇で寝るようになっていた。そんなみかげの前に、ある日祖母の知り合いだったという青年・田辺雄一が現われ、自分の家に誘う。雄一のマンションに行ったみかげはそこで雄一の“母”と出会う。
