Die attraktive Polizistentochter und Hobbymalerin Emma Becker (Virginia Madsen) ist frustriert und unglücklich. Nur als Vertreterin für Alarmanlagen hat sie Erfolg. Als sie den Kunsthändler Bret (Rick Rossovich) kennenlernt, schlägt ihre gemeinsame Leidenschaft für Kunst rasch in Leidenschaft füreinander um. Die beiden fassen einen Entschluss: Sie wollen Emmas Know-how nutzen, um ignorante Sammler zu bestehlen, die Kunst nur kaufen, um damit anzugeben. Nacht für Nacht ziehen sie los.
