Mieke Wijaya
Miecke Marie de Rijder (17 March 1940 – 3 May 2022), known as Mieke Widjaja , was an Indonesian actress, model, and singer. She was nominated and won the Indonesian Film Festival award for Best Actress in the films Gadis Kerudung Putih (White Veil Girl ) (1966) and Kembang Semusim (Semasa Flower) (1980). Role in television by starring in the series Rumah Masa Depan in 1984, then she starred in the series Losmen in 1986 which was an adaptation of the writings of Tatiek Maliyati and Wahyu Sihombing. The series re-popularized her name with the nickname Bu Broto, Mieke even received a call from one of her fans who had just returned from Bangkok to ask to tell her about one of the episodes of Losmen that he missed. Mieke took a break from the film world in 1987 and preferred to focus on acting in soap operas and managing her own clothing store business which she named Mieke Wijaya Jeans Collection, after which she returned by starring in the film Saat Kukatakan Cinta in 1991. After the Indonesian film industry declined in 1992, Mieke spent more time playing in soap operas Antara Jakarta-Perth (1995 – 1998), Doa dan Anugerah (2003), Bunga di Tepi Jalan (2005), Dewi (2009), etc. One of her soap operas, namely Antara Jakarta-Perth, managed to make her win the award for Best Supporting Actress at the Asian Soap Opera Festival. The last time she played a role in the miniseries Supir dan Majikan in 2019. In 1999, Mieke joined the United Development Party and accompanied Hamzah Haz in attending a mass meeting held at the Diponegoro Stadium, Semarang, on Sunday, February 28, 1999.
